SBS 2003 to SBS 2008 Migration
Posted by: Roger Crawford
Today I start migrating my wifes SBS 2003 Server to her new SBS 2008 server. What I am doing is keeping a log of every step time wise, one for the techs in our office so there is a baseline of time that it takes for sure on a migration. Two this SBS 2003 server has all the parts on it from ISA to SQL so this will be a good test of the migration for sure. I have done many in the TAP process for SBS 2008 but this will be the first SBS 2003 to SBS 2008 migration I get to do for sure. I have already did a Standard 2003 Server to SBS 2008 migration and have documented that and posted about it so I will be doing this one as I go also.
So far everything has ran cleanly from the removal of ISA and running the SBS 2003 BPA tool and also the Exchange 2007 Readiness Tool. AD looks clean and I have moved the 2003 Terminal Server Licensing over to the 2003 TS Server itself. I am still debating how I am going to handle the WYSE Devices I have in this office as the WSYE devices gets there configs off a internal FTP Server running on the server that is running DHCP. Meaning it is on the SBS 2003 server so this should be interesting. I know I could put it on the TS Server but where is the fun in that? Well off to the big adventure.
Til later just Roger
