I have been specializing in integrating Crystal Reports with SAP BW for the past five years. Bottom line: when implemented correctly, it's a terrific solution for the business end user. It requires a savvy analyst or IT developer to create the content and publish it to the web, but the tool is much more robust and easier to work with than the BI tools provided by SAP. But then, of course, that's one reason why SAP bought Business Objects. Once the dust settles on this there are going to be a lot of happy end users out there.

What gets interesting is how SAP comes with its product suites as a result of the aquisition. Am sure most of BO customers are still confused with the migration path, which already faces its own significant acquisition & integration challenges.

This will be a huge advantage for its competitors like Oracle, who are way ahead.

I believe that the acquisition is very confusing for SAP customers. No matter which merged product will finally be produced - I can't see a reasonable transition program from good old BW. So customers will hesitate to spend long time plans in BI (why migrate to BI7?), IP (the new BPS), BCS, Portal, BI Accelerator, Visual Composer......
