Using DEMSG

This week I upgraded my network from 100MG hub to 1GB Switch. Whilst I was able to tell from the MUI that the VMKernel NICs were running at the correct speed/duplex – I more concerned whether the service console NIC’s were operating at 1Gp/Full-Duplex which cannot tell from the MUI.

Unfortunately, being Intel Pro 1000 cards I could trust the output from the mii-tool – because it simply does work for them.

So found out there’s tool called dmesg which tell your “interesting” stuff about how hardware is behaving under the Service Console.

So if used: dmesg | grep “eth0″

So my worries are over and using SCP between two servers is nice and quick!
