<p>Say goodbye to time-division multiplexing (<a href="http://searchcio-midmarket.techtarget.com/sDefinition/0,,sid183_gci214174,00.html">TDM</a>).   Looks like all that <a href="http://searchnetworking.techtarget.com/sDefinition/0,,sid7_gci211891,00.html">dark fiber</a> left over from the dot.com bust is going to be put to good use.</p>
<p>John describes <a href="http://searchtelecom.techtarget.com/sDefinition/0,,sid103_gci1264914,00.html">Metro Ethernet</a> and its long haul equivalent, <a href="http://searchtelecom.techtarget.com/sDefinition/0,,sid103_gci1266055,00.html">Carrier Ethernet</a>, as LAN extension technologies.  I like that. &#8220;LAN extension technologies.&#8221;</p>
