finger-vein.gif Both finger prints and iris patterns can be more prone to copying by a third person. But finger veins are not directly visible to a third person, which makes them more suitable for security use.

I wonder if the finger has to be attached to a live person for this technology to work? That makes it even MORE suitable.

Interesting concept… how will the chaning of vein patterns be handled?
Change in Lean Body Mass (either up or down) causes blood vessel change…

Good question. I couldn’t find an answer. I did read that the finger has to be attached to a live person — and the idea came about because thieves were figuring out how to get around basic finger scans. There’s the old Mission Impossible “create a fake fingerprint” scheme, but even worse — there were crime rings that were actually chopping off people’s fingers.
