Hi Shamus,

Engineers Toolset is not a fully functional NMS and really doesn't sit in the same class. Since your comments revolved around Orion, your audience (me being one of them) assumed that your focus was on fully fledged NMS solutions. Thanks for clarifying!

Hi Netguy1,

Perhaps I should clarify. I didn't mean to say that Orion is cheap, but that some of their other products are cheap, like the Engineer's Toolset that goes for $995. I agree there are plenty of other good NMS products out there. And I've written about them quite a bit.

Interesting take on Solarwinds. Having evaluated their product, I did find it easy to use, but expensive. They are comparing their Orion product to HP and other monolithic NMS vendors, so I don't see how this is good for them. There are a lot of other NMS vendors, actually the list is extensive, and a lot of them are as good or better than Orion at a lot less cost. How about some comments/observations on some of the other vendors?
