Since its arrival Android is giving a tough time for Apple, plenty of new tablets invented working on Android platform; never the less, Blackberry with its Playbook is expected to do well at least at Enterprise level, HP TouchPad seems to give a tough fight as well. Microsoft is working on Windows 8 eyeing the tablet market and expected to have a demo in June. When all these developments are happening how come Apple can stay idle?

According Reuters the next version of iPhone will go on sale in September 2011, citing three sources with direct knowledge of Apple’s supply chain, the news agency said that production of the iPhone 5 is likely to start in July or August.

The Apple’s next-generation iPhone will have a faster processor but it will be similar in appearance to the iPhone 4, Reuters identified a number of components suppliers for the new phone, namely camera module maker Largan Precision for camera, Wintek to supply the touchscreen, and Foxconn Technology to supply the casing, but none of the vendors would confirm the reports.

Some market observers have suggested that the new phone will be unveiled at an as-yet unscheduled Apple event in September, as Apple has normally held a music-related product launch event in that month. It’s too early to predict the move Apple is going to take; at least I would love to see some restrictions pertained to flash and additional memory expansion are overcome in the new version of iPhone. Not to forget Android is doing an amazing job and its market share is increasing day by day.

Perhaps Apple can come out with a new version of iPad by testing the success of it’s new version of iPhone. Especially when the tablet market is growing exponentially.

According to Kaufman Brothers analyst Shaw Wu, BlackBerry’s answer to iPad and Samsung Galaxy Tab, BlackBerry Playbook needs a re-engineering to improve its battery life. The Playbook is due to be released in 2011.

“Wu claims he is hearing that the PlayBook “needs to improve its relatively poor battery life of a few hours compared to 6 hours for the Samsung Galaxy Tab and 10 hours for [Apple's] iPad.” As a result, Wu writes, the launch of the BlackBerry PlayBook may be delayed until May, 2011. Wu notes that the cause of the battery issues may stem from the fact that QNX, the PlayBook’s operating system, was designed for use in scenarios where battery life is not an issue — such as in automobiles.”

Wu has also raised concerns over app store monetization. Apple is the only store where developers can count on revenue, while Android “suffers from piracy and inconsistency”.

Wu has estimated that RIM will ship around 700,000 PlayBooks next year, while other analysts have predicted up to one million shipments.

RIM has announced that the PlayBook measures 5.1 inches by 7.6 inches by 0.4 inches and weighs 0.9 pounds. The PalyBook has a 1024-by-600 multitouch capacitive display, designed around a dual-core, 1-GHz Cortex A9 microprocessor with one gigabyte of RAM.

The tablet will run QNX’s mobile operating system, as well as HTML5 and Flash 10.1, with native hardware support to accelerate apps further.

The importance of remote connectivity is growing, VPN has become quite essential for each and every organizations starting from Enterprises to a SMB. These days’ people started using the smartphones for VPN connectivity including me. This is an era of iPhones, iPads, Black berries etc.

There is a good news for iPhone users as Juniper Network one of the leading network security company has released Junos Pulse app, which provides secure remote mobile access to corporate resources on an iPhone or iPod Touch. Junos Pulse app happens to be the industry’s first downloadable VPN app for iPhone, coupled with the Juniper Networks SA Series SSL VPN Appliances, a remote user can now have the privilege of accessing any corporate resource from the iPhone and iPod touch enabling the mobile workforce to stay connected, productive and informed while on the run.

Mark Bauhaus, executive vice president and general manager of Juniper’s Service Layer Technologies Business Group said on the release of the app: “Instant and seamless secure access to corporate resources including applications, email, contacts and the intranet are all critical elements demanded by employees of any successful organization. We worked with Apple to ensure the Junos Pulse App enables the productivity that enterprise users are demanding and are very excited that it is now available on the App Store. Juniper’s market-leading SSL VPN solution will keep any enterprise mobile, secure, empowered and working more efficiently.”

The Junos Pulse app works on iPhone and iPad with an iOS version of 4.1 or later. On the infrastructure side, customers must have a Juniper Networks SA Series SSL VPN Appliance running version 6.4 or later.
