CCIE Routing and Switching Official Certification Guide to be released in November 2009

I was just accessing the rough cuts for the Cisco CCIE Routing and Switching Official Certification Guide, 4^th Edition. I had a great first impression. I had a chance to read “LAN Switching” part. It was a great firsthand experience. This segment is organized well and the approach is similar to CCNA, CCNP books, starts with a brief introduction and then the most useful section of Cisco Press Books “Do I Know This Already?” Quiz followed by “Foundation topics and “Foundation Summary”.

The Cisco Press authors Wendell Odom, Rus Healy and Denise Donohue did a credible job; I liked the way they presented the topics, since I spent most of my time on Switching I really enjoyed the “LAN Switching” part. Though I am familiar with most of the things they were talking but it was great experience to refresh my info.

 

The CCIE Routing and Switching Official Certification Guide 4^th Edition is to be released on 19^th of November 2009 by Cisco Press, they are offering great discount do check Cisco Press web site for more details, but make sure you registered yourself to Cisco Press website to get more discount. Once the book released I will try to write a review on this book.

Support after sales Matters (Cisco Press Support is great)

 Whenever we buy anything either it might be a small thing or huge buch of servers, we always think of support. Yes support matters a lot, especially after buying any piece of software, study guide or a simulator. When Cisco Press released the CCENT 640-822 Network Simulator, I purchased the Simulator to test and see what Cisco Press is offering in this simulator, which was amazing and in fact I wrote a review as well in my ITKE blog.

 

Recently Cisco Press released the CCNA 640-802 Network Simulator, when I purchased the CCENT 640-822 Network Simulator there was an offer , so I was entitled for a free upgrade of the CCNA 640-802 Network Simulator. When Cisco Press released the CCNA 640-802 Network Simulator I was thinking of upgrade but the CCENT 640-822 Network Simulator was corrupted in my laptop and I was not able to activate the product. Immediately I contacted the Cisco Press Support and my problem was solved in matter of hours, which was really amazing.

 

My past experience with other vendors was not as great as of Cisco Press Support. Which proved to be vital for the Certification aspirers, as time matters? Without proper support we can suffer a lot.

In my first post  I was talking about the books required to pass Cisco CCNA 640-802 exams, once you are done with The CCNA Official Exam Certification Library (CCNA Exam 640-802), and with the boson Exsim practice exams which are always very helpful to understand the concepts as well as an idea about the questions you might face in the real Cisco CCNA 640-802 exams.

In addition to the new languages, the Support tool introduced new functionality. Don’t Panic for ICND 1 Simualtion questions.

One of my colleagues went for the ICND 1 (640-822) exam and he failed to pass the exams with a small margin. He got few simulation questions, in which he was suppose the find out the IP address for the router interfaces connected in the topology provided. The show running command was disabled, he was suppose to use alternative IOS commands to determine the IP address assigned to the router interface.

 

In this scenario don’t panic,  the best command to determine the IP address assigned to interface s in any router is “show ip interface brief” or Show ip interfaces. Here is the sample output of these commands
