Bogen, CAT3, Polycom, Roulund, SIP, SwitchVox, Valcom, VoIP
I will admit that page is a fairly new addition to my arsenal of education. It was an outgrowth from the SIP/VOIP side. I had worked with Roland and Bogen before but from my stand point VALCOM is definitely the winner. All speakers are connected in Parallel using cat 3 – 2 pair wire. Two of the wires Black – White are for power. The green red is the audio source. The advantage here is there is no main amp that can blow out as all of the speakers have their own amp integrated in. It also means a single span running down the hallway will support all of the speakers. They also have a wide variety of speakers for any application.
The other reason I like Valcom is for the SIP integration boxes. Currently I have a school where each zone (Building) runs off a single VIP-801. This allows the phone system (SwitchVox) to page the phones (Polycom) and the overhead simultaneously by just dialing an extension. The 801 is set up just like a SIP Phone with an easy to use interface. Very cool and it saved the school money as they did not need a speaker in every room as the phone itself repeated the page.
I will have more on this later but until I find something better Valcom is my Page System provider.
