With all the talks of the slow economy and job loss, occupations in IT and health care are showing strong demands. There is no doubt that the weak world economy is contributing to job loss in many fields but there is also a shift on the type of skills needed for next 10-20 years.
There is a shift at the global level on the skills needed for the new global economy, many occupations are about to become obsolete and are no longer needed.
What contributes to higher demand for health care professional is not only the aging population but people in general are more eager to live longer and better life. On the technology side, the demand of IT professionals will remain strong for many years to come, the world economy is becoming more and more service oriented and at the core of this new service economy is the Internet and all the related technologies.
Yes the world economy has slowed down and there are millions of job lost in the process, but the world economy is also going through self correcting phase to adjust to the new realties of this new era in human history.
