Too many people just focus on the work because that's the easiest thing to do, and normally there is a common language in the jargon or technologies and processes involved. Commonalities are a great starting point, but don't stop there! Proactively grow your knowledge of the people and cultures you work with; it will make your work with them more fun and productive too!
