Featured IT Blogger of the Week: Scott Lowe

JennyMack Jenny Mackintosh Profile: JennyMack

Scott LoweThis week’s featured blogger is Scott Lowe, of blog.scottlowe.org.
Scott is a respected virtualization and storage pro, and is a contributor on SearchVMware.com, as well as SearchServerVirtualization.com. He writes mostly on topics surrounding virtualization, and recently asked his readers, “What if Hypervisors shared a file system?”:

VMware has VMFS. Microsoft has CSV, or will in Windows Server 2008 R2. (Does XenServer have a clustered file system? I don’t know.) What would happen if all the major hypervisors had a clustered file system in common? How would that impact virtualization? […] Would a clustered file system that worked equally well with Hyper-V, ESX, and XenServer make any difference? What sort of flexibility or interoperability might it bring?

You can check out the blog post here; feel free to give him some feedback.

We’re happy to feature Scott as our IT blogger of the week! You can visit his blog here.

Featured IT Blogger of the Week: ChrisWolf.com

JennyMack Jenny Mackintosh Profile: JennyMack

This week’s featured IT blogger is Chris Wolf of ChrisWolf.com. As a senior virtualization analyst, author and speaker, Chris certainly has his hands full. However, he still finds time to keep a great virtualization blog, chock full of information on everything from virtualization management, Hyper-V, backup and recovery, and more.

Recently, Chris outlined the benefits of Project Virtual Reality Check (VRC):

If you have plans to virtualize desktops or terminal servers, you will find the information invaluable. The authors have published thorough test data, tuning best practices, and recommended configurations for VMware ESX, Citrix XenServer, and Hyper-V environments. The results provide good information on expected consolidation densities for each platform.

Chris Wolf is no stranger to TechTarget; he just appeared as a keynote speaker at a Data Center Decisions virtual seminar on advanced enterprise virtualization. You can also see him at VMworld Europe in late February.

You can check out Chris’s blog here:

Congratulations, Chris, on being our IT Knowledge Exchange Blogger of the Week!

New member giveaway: Ask a question and answer a question, receive a t-shirt

JennyMack Jenny Mackintosh Profile: JennyMack

As a welcome to new members, we are introducing a new giveaway: ask and answer one question each, and you will be eligible to receive an IT Knowledge Exchange t-shirt. Simply e-mail me at jenny@itknowledgeexchange.com once you have asked a question and answered a question, and tell me your address and preferred t-shirt size. You will receive a t-shirt as thanks within 2-3 weeks.

What’s the catch, you ask? None whatsoever! Of course, we will be reviewing all questions and answers for relevancy, so make sure your posts are applicable. Please remember: No sales or marketing messages will qualify. This promotion is for a very limited time as a welcome to new members. However, anyone is eligible — so get into the community and start spreading the knowledge!

Happy posting,
