The IT Blog Top 10: September 23, 2010

Melanie Yarbrough Profile: MelanieYarbrough

Okay so none of the IT blog top 10 are “evil” per se, but monkeys are cute, so enjoy the comic. Then enjoy the top landing pages across IT Knowledge Exchange from the past week. Seems like everyone stuck at home is on the lookout for Oracle OpenWorld updates, and we’ve got some great coverage from Oracle OpenWorld 2010.

1. Colin Steele speculates for the Search Server Virtualization blog on who the mystery beau come to steal (read: strategically buy) the SUSE Linux part of Novell. Check out his numbers in Odds-Makers: Who’s buying Novell?

2. The follow-up to number 1 up there; compare Colin’s numbers and predictions with the fact that VMware, Novell in acquisition talks, WSJ says.

3. David Vasta recommends some reading over at the Lotus Alive blog: Ed Brill – Not a good day for the “other guys.”

4. If you’re not hanging out at Oracle OpenWorld 2010 with 40,999 of your friends, you’re probably reading about it. Add Barbara Darrow’s Channel Marker post to your repertoire on why Oracle is the world’s scariest software company.

5. As we approach the end of the year and *sigh* the end of the summer, Storage Soup’s Davo Raffo’s anticipation grows for the release of CommVault’s Simpana 9.

6. Despite recent reports that claim the recession ended in 2009, business productivity and cost reduction are still the number one concern according to a CIO survey, Linda Tucci reports for Total CIO.

7. The Troposphere’s Carl Brooks scratches at the persistent itch: What does Amazon’s security really do?

8. Not at Oracle OpenWorld 2010? Don’t worry, Barney Beal of Voices of CRM has an early look at Oracle’s Fusion CRM applications.

9. Storage Soup’s Dave Raffo reports on the post-breakup status of Dell: Will Dell buy Brocade on the rebound?

10. Keep your eye on Oracle with Shayna Garlick as she discusses the next version of Exadata.
