XP floppy format AVG
In XP under AVG i can no longer format a floppy in the standard way. eg RC A: drive and click format etc The error message I received Invalid media, or track 0 bad-disk ununsable It seems to be something to do with firewall / avg. If I diasable AVG ( system tray ) it still doesn't work. Also trying at the command prompt fails:- ie C:> format a: /x I realise with flash ram sticks this is becoming an pre-historic requirement, but there are plenty of pre VISTA / XP m/c's still functioning !!! Including two in my house !

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Drop to Dos by going to Start run and typing CMD

Then type format a:\ and that should do it. If you are running VISTA you might get a UAC window to click ok on. And if you are not logged in as an administrator you can log in one or runas the cmd command and choose a local administrator account.
