USB (and FireWire/IEEE1394) devices in XP and especially SP2 are treated very circumspectly. If you put a CD in the Drive with autoplay will look at the disc and open a query window to see what action you want, or if you have already given a choice open 'Media Player' or 'Windows Explorer' PROVIDED files are found in the root of the drive. A CD with folders either won't autoplay or only open 'Windows Explorer'. Most cameras fall into this category also. My Olympus Camedia will show as a drive but not autoplay because the pictures are actually two levels down. (MemoryDCIM). Likeways for the Kodak at work. It shows up as a device but the pictures are two levels down.

Look at the drive in 'Windows Explorer' and if the images are not in the root then XP is doing what it is programmed to do.

I hope this helps.
