Q:
x3400 ibm server linux install with raid 1
i have X3400 IBM server, i just want to install (red hat 4 es) with RAID 1 , But when i configure raid 1 and boot with linux cd after booting when i press on manual partition error showing that no Hard disk was found.
BUT in BIOS , IN controll A Utility Harddisk was shown.

HOw i rectify this problem ... PLease suggest

Which Linux distribution are you using? Are you certain that it supports the RAID controller (IBM uses mostly LSI Logic chipsets if I'm not mistaken)?

When you said that you configured RAID1, what did you do? Did you actually create a logical volume and initialize it? Did you confirm that the disks in the LV were synched or synching?

Make sure your raid controller is listed in the RHES 4 hardware compatibility list (HCL).
