OK I have this Laptop that was working fine when I gave it to this electrical estimator. He has admin rights becasue of travel. He loaded a bunch of software related to his job, AutoCad, McCormick, Electrical conversions, you name it. He also loaded the Weather Bug and a Websters Dictionary. Anyway, one day he comes in and his network drives do not map. He cannot launch outlook. He can get to the internet just fine. He only has dial up at home, which makes me think he did install AT&T dial up, but that probably would have made a difference right?
Anyway, the Workstation service is not started and when I try and start it I get the message of "Could not start workstation service on local computer. Error 1005: The volume does not contain a recognized file system. Please make sure that all required file system drivers are loaded and the volume is not corrupted."
I tried to run the "Repair this installation of W2K" from the install CD, but that didn't help.
Any suggestions, besides not giving admin control back to him?

Have you checked to see if virus protection is running and up to date? If he is downloading a lot of software from the internet he could have caught something or unintentionally installed some kind of malware, so you might also want to add some software to prevent that, like Ad-Aware by Lavasoft.
