Welcome to IT Knowledge Exchange. Can you please provide more information? What is the specific error the user is receiving? How long has he been receiving this error? The more information you can provide, the better your peers can help answer your question.
Sorry. I had entered that phrase as a starting search point without having any of the “good” information. User has been getting this error since requesting access to the database. He says he is getting a “Server Error: Notes Port Driver Unavailable” when trying to connect. I set up the access control for that database to have him as a reader, mirroring the other users who do not have this problem, but that has not helped. This is with Notes 6.5 on a Windows XP SP 2 PC.
has the user connected to this server before? is his location set to a location that does not have a network connection or that is mapped to ports that are disabled? you can find this out by just editing his current location, if a port is set as usable but is not enabled there will be an error to remove it given.
Will you try to uninstall the Notes Client and reinstall it again. Make sure any files under Notesdata folder being removed or backup to other location. See how it goes.
Thanks for taking the time to provide some ideas on how to solve this problem, but the user has not returned any further requests for information so it must not be too important. Therefore this question can be closed.
