Workgroup pc’s not seen in network browsing

Hello i have around 175 pc's in my workgroup- Lan with all windows operating systems and sometimes workgroup browser doesnt displays full pc's and some pc's are not accesible in network thru network browsing, where as these pc are accesible when they are tried thru search computer.or direct access of the pc with ip address.and afetr sometime all pc's are visible in workgroup and all pc's are accesible. i feel when somepc's when join network is causing the problem .can anyone tell why these problem comes and teh soulution and systematic way to find teh root cause,There is no problem with Virus, Enterprise antivirus is running and no virus detected.

Need more detail. Do you have a domain controller server? A server like Windows 2000 or 2003 would act as the master browser. A 175 PCs in a workgroup instead of a domain would saturate your network with broadcast messages from all the PC’s. If you browse the network your PC sends out a broadcast to find the master browser, if it doesn’t find one it assumes it’s the master browser & querys all the other PC’s on your network. Sometimes in this situation not all PC’s respond. That is why you don’t see all the PCs.

    It should usually take 15mins for you to see all the computers in Network Neighbourhood when using a workgroup. This is normal behavior. Also make sure that NETBIOS over TCP/IP is enabled.
