Q:
Workflows and Properties
We would like to use SharePoint workflow for reviewing and approving our invoices. However, we would like to add a budget field in this process so that the approver can add the budget at the workflow level and then approve as opposed to going into the Edit Properties screen. But we'd also like this data to (somehow) migrate over to the document properties so that when we view the properties, we can see the budget code. Can this be done?

You can configure the workflow to gather data during the workflow process (just like a comment) and then change an exposed column in the list based on the value. You can handle this either in SharePoint Designer or through a Visual Studio-created workflow.

Hi ShawnShell, Thanks for the response. Is there a step-by-step process/instructional somewhere that I can reference? I’m just learning SharePoint, so trying to do as you recommended is difficult for me until I gain further knowledge.
