word viewer


Word 2003, Office 2003, Microsoft Word

all word document icons are changed into word viewer icons. (office 2003)

file type options like open with and the always use this program (selected MSword) does not change the word document file icon.

changed the users profile already, but somehow this anoying thing keeps popping up. users are no admins on their pc's.

Browse to the files, right click, and select Open With. A dialog box should appear. Navigate to Microsoft Word. Check, "Always use the selected program to open this type of file." And then click OK. You should be set.

unfortunately this user says they have already tried this and it has not worked. Tani, do you have word viewer installed as well as office? Can you unistall the viewer? If so, try that and do a repair of Office 2003.

In My Computer or Windows Explorer, click the Tools menu, click Folder Options, and then click the File Types tab.
In the Registered file types list, scroll down till you see the DOC extension filetype, click on it then click Change.
In the Open With dialog box, scroll down to Microsoft Office Word, click, then make sure the “Always use….” box is ticked then OK your way out of it.
