The solution to your problem may be as simple as a right-click of the mouse in the blank, gray area of your menu bar. A number of toolbars to choose from appear, and a click of the mouse causes your choice to appear.

It may be that the menu bar has become a floating toolbar (i.e. it is not docked) and is off the edge of the screen. If so you should still be able to navigate to it using the keyboard – but I don’t know how to dock it again without dragging it to the side or top of the word window.

First bring Word into focus, then try Alt v t c
where the alt key is used to select menu options, v is for views, t is for toolbar, c is for customise the ensure that the Menu Bar tick box is ticked.

From there you are on your own. Good luck.

I had this once where a registry entry had become corrupt. I had to uninstall in safe mode and re-install

If all else fails. Go to Help and Detect and Repair this will reset all customizations and everything else back to its original mode when it was first installed.

This happened to me and I was searching google for an answer. just figured out: right click in the empty space of the tool bar and unclick “minimize the ribbon”
