There is a setting in word 2007 that allow doc. files to be opened but I am loss to find it. Can you please help

open blank document, go to Open> under files of type: there is drop down list on the right hand side of that little windon click intot hat you will see word 97-2003 .doc Hope this will be musch of help Word 2007 should have no problems opening .doc files - it is usually the other way around (older versions of Word cannot open .docx files without a converter). You can easily save your documents as .doc files instead of .docx by using the "save as" feature, which makes your documents easy to open regardless of which Office software you are using. Hope this helps.
