Q:
Word 2007 Vista & Pocket PC - Can't open or save Files to Pocket PC
Hello,

I am using Windows Vista & Word 2007 + a Pocket PC-Smartphone.

When I used Word 2003 I could create files & save them to my phone. Now that I'm using Word 2007, it wont let me save files to the phone, though I can open files CREATED on the phone.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!!
Wes

Windows Mobile 6.1 started including the files needed to open docx or xlsx files on it. You will see that this is the file types it uses when creating documents. In Word 2007 you can either save your files as doc using the drop down save as dialogue box to choose the 2000/2003 file type or you can install a patch on your windows mobile device.

The patch is located at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=4b106c1f-51e2-42f0-ba32-69bb7e9a3814&displaylang=en

Simply by downloading this file it will make your Windows Mobile device read these new file types. This is similar to the compatibility patch they have for office 2003 users.

It won’t let you save or won’t let you open a file?

One thing you need to keep in mind is to change the default docx documents to the old doc file extensions. This is if your pocket PC can’t open the files.
