Hello Dwiebesick,

What you state is entirely correct. It had to do with the inheritance from the top level of the disk. That was set to just Administrators and System. I corrected the "problem" manually and now everything works fine.

What I intended to do with this question was to find out what was the reason for this. Both your and Carlosdl's answer confirm what I thought was the reason for this situation. To put it bluntly, somebody messed with the normal settings on this disk. They removed the other groups, obviously for security reasons and in the mean time creating a big mess.

Thank you both for your help. I wasn't sure enough myself of what the reason behind this happening was.

Thanks once again.

I'm glad you solved it.
I don't think it is a domain policy. It might has something to do with permissions inheritance, as Dwiebesick
suggested.

Hi Carlos,

The situation is:
Those other groups do not appear in the security tab, and you are not able to add them by pressing the “Add” button. Is this correct ?

Yes, I can add them manually, but then I am a local administrator. What worried me though was the fact that these groups were not there in the first place. Is that a domain policy?

After I added them manually the application I installed worked fine, so problem solved. But I am wondering about the cause, not so much the solution.

Best regards,
