 Windows XP SP3 restore feature

On Windows XP SP3 if I use the restore feature to roll back to a specific point can I un do that or do I need to create a restore point before I roll back?

when you do a roll back after the computer boots into the OS again it will give you the option to keep the roll back or undo the roll back. To be on the safe side go ahead and make a save point first.

Yes it works both ways, you can undo the changes you made or even beter like you just mention create another restore point.

Or if you still have problems in doing so, you can use Winternal sofware…this sofware can help you to restore as far back to a restore point.
