 Windows XP Pro user options
I have a windows XP Pro computer that was set-up by another party using a domain server. I'm trying to reset the users account log on screen to the new XP logon window, and remove the classic windows 2000 logon. When I go to the control panel users information, it doesn't give me the options to change the way users log on.

Answer Wiki:
Are you looking to do this while still being on the domain? If so you can't, that is just the way XP is designed, it has to use it that way so you can choose whether you want it to login to the domain, or the workstation itself...if you want the GUI login, you have to pull it off the domain and put it on a workgroup, then check your user accounts... to change to workgroup, Right click 'My Computer' and go to properties, click the Computer Name tab Click 'Change' and then put a bubble in the Workgroup, and set the workgroup to whatever you like or what is similar on the other machines Click Ok, and and Ok again... Then click Apply and restart and check your user account settings in control panel... But if this machine still NEEDS to be on the domain then dont do this otherwise you will have to rejoin for login scripts, and permission rights to possible network access (depending on how your domain is setup)

Thanks and yes I have removed the Domain Server and will add a Win XP Pro to the workgroup with a raid mirror as the server.
If I do this how do I recover the current Desk top or will I will that be lost?
