Windows Server 2008 R2 – Windows Updates will not install.

Windows Updates

Hi,

I've been given the task of trying to resolve an issue with a Windows Server 2008 r2 where it's not installing any Windows Updates.

I've tried to install each one individually with no success and have gone through the following methods, non of which have worked:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2509997

I've also tried another suggestion of trying to install the updates whilst in diagnostic mode (from msconfig) and although it said it installed KB2676562 and KB2813170 it kept trying to install them over and over.

I now have 18 updates that just will not install and receive error code 8007371C.

I'm starting to think a reinstall of the server from scratch will be the way forward due to the amount of time it has take so far troubleshooting it.

Although my boss is reluctant as it is our backup server and she seems to think its a pain to setup.

Any further suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

An extract from the Windowsupdate.log file is below:

We have decided to rebuild the server at some point as it's not critical to the running of the server at the moment.

A new backup solution needs to be implemented at some point anyway.
