Windows Server 2003 Web Edition Configuration

I have been out of the web development arena for a few years and decided to brush up on new technology. I installed Windows Server 2003 Web Edition on my home domain and placed the machine in the DMZ. I published a basic page and all works well. I published a standard template forum from Frontpage 2003 and enabled Frontpage Server 2002 extensions on the web server (from the 2003 CD). The forum continues to error and tell me I have to use Frontpage Server Extensions.
I followed some additional online advise and tried to install Share Point Services and SQL 2005. SQL 2005 says it cannot be run on this edition of Windows??? And the Share Point Services did not seem to fix the issue either.
Any suggestions? Machine meets all hardware requirements for all applications. Domain is a Windows 2003 native domain.

Did you remember to publish from your local file system to the website and get NO error reports? as for sql2005 you can use msde instead of full blown sql server. Also ensure that your permissions are set properly

We had a similar problem in our office - we have a web based app that uses SQL. We tried to install SQL Server on our Server 2003 Web Edition and sure enough, it wouldn’t go. It turns out that it won’t and can’t install on web edition by design. Our solution? Wipe the box, load 2003 Server Standard Edition and enable web services. Only then were we able to install SQL Server on this box.
