 Windows Server 2003 SP1 and child domain to Windows Server 2008

I have windows server 2008 domain controller, I want to join the windows server 2003 SE SP1 as child domain of windows server 2008 . An error occurs which says that windows version is not compatible to do this job. What is my issue

Your domain is likely running in Windows 2008 Native mode which does not allow any domain controllers to be older than Server 2008. You need to re-create the Windows 2008 domain and keep it at Windows 2003 Mixed mode.
