ones of our clients want to migrate windows 2003 DC to new windows 2008 server. is it same aa promotion of win2003 DC to windows 2003 ADC or is there some other requirements to do this migration.

It is a straight forward migration. You first need to prep the forest and domain using the ADPREP tool found on the Server 2008 CD.
