Q:
Windows Server 2003 as a virtual server has no connectivity
i have installed Windows Server 2003 as a virtual server, nothing
has been installed on it yet except for windows updates and the
additional tools. the virtual server now has limited or no connectivity. it is
unable to contact the DHCP server to get an IP and if i assign it an IP
Manually, still cannot get any connection. i have tried
disabling the adapter and re-enablining, also un-ticking all the
adapter items ( Client for MS Networks, QOS Packet scheduler and
tcp/ip) and re-ticking them.

Software/Hardware used:
Windows Server 2003, Virtual Server

Can you provide information about the virtualization platform you are using (VMware ESX, Virtual Server, Hyper-V, VMware Workstation, etc)?

Assuming this is Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 R2 Software, Edit the configuration for the virtual server. Click on Network adapters. Select an external adapter on the host server. It is likely that this is currently set to Not Connected or Internal Network.

If you are using VMware ESX then you need to install the VMware Tools package to get the drivers installed.
