Windows ME and USB 2.0 external hard drive

To my Desktop PC running Windows ME with latest updates online, I have attached a Seagate USB2.0 500GB FreeAgent external hard drive (directly and via a 4-port hub). The drive letter is configured and the Seagate drive recognized by windows explorer but the disk itself is not accessed. It works fine on an XP laptop but I need to backup my PC files. Is there a way of doing this under ME?

I think the drive would need to be formatted in fat32, have alook here it may answer your question:

formatting fat32 MIGHT work but I checked Seagate's website and the Pro and regular version of that drive both do NOT support Windows ME. Both say either Windows Vista, XP Home or Professional Edition, or Windows 2000. Even if it does work you still might have some issues with it.
