Thanks for the response.   Sorry that i need to ask - how to check whether both systems are in Windows 2003 Mode.

I have take a look at the properies of my domain (Parent domain) in the &quot;Active Directory Users and Computers&quot;, it shown -

Domain name - pre windows 2000 [My domain name]

Domain Functional level - Windows server 2003

Forest Functional Level - Windows server 2003 

Am i right to say that the child domain has to be Windows 2003 compatible is we bring them into our forest?

So in Windows 2008, how do we set it to Windows 2003 mode?
