i would check to ensure the network (either the user or notes) has permissions in NTFS security to the local files and folders that notes needs or the user is wanting to use.

I am a Lotus Admin and this is a pretty simple fix. The message is telling you the truth. The Notes ID for that user and the log in they used to log into Windows is not the same. This is a feature of Lotus Notes since 6.5 I think. You can turn it off so that it forces the user to authenticate to get into Lotus Notes each time using the supplies Notes ID password along with the users name in the ID file.
To turn it off open Lotus Notes then click FILE> SECURITY> User Security. This is going to ask you for the user IDs password. Then once you are in the security settings you can either make the user password match the Windows password using the “Change Password” button or uncheck the box that says to use the Windows password to log into Windows. Click OK and then you are done.
There was a need from the Lotus User community to have a single sign on into Lotus Notes, and they delivered unfortunately not everyone reads all the manuals with Lotus Notes and learns what all the settings are for, just another hidden treasure.
