Windows 98 client in a Server 2003 domain

I am unable to logon to my Server 2003 domain (mixed mode) with any of my Win 98 clients. Have installed the AD client for Win 98 and created the recommended LSA key and value. Still no help. NIC is configured appropriately with the correct domain name and static IPs. If anyone has a solution I would greatly appreciate hearing about it.

ensure that your Win2003 domain controllers accept the NTLM v1 authentication. Check Domain Controller Policy

This is just a guess-but check your Windows Internet Name Service (WINS) settings on your 2003 Server.

My understanding is the same as the last... Windows 2003 Server and Windows 98 isn't going to work. I would love to know if it does.. later

I have a dumb question to ask here.....why are you still using WIN98 at all? There is literally no security for your workstations and I can't imagine that by now you haven't experienced all sorts of other problems. Just a thought, but the first thing I would do is update all the clients. there's two cents worth. Best, Paul

Win 98 will work with server 2003 as long as it is in windows server 2003 intrem mode. Also the workgroup on the win 98 clients needs to be that same as your domain name.
