I just purchased a new HP Windows 8.1, when my computer goes to sleep and I wake it up, why do I have to put every time my password in? Is there a way that I can stop this?

Windows 7, you can simply head to Power Options and find the Require a password on Wake Up link on the left-hand pane in Windows Vista there’s a whole bunch of extra steps into the advanced power options change the setting there.

You need to go into Control Panel, Appearance and Personalization, Personalization, Screen Saver and disable "On resume, display logon screen".

Press windows Logo key+ x OR right click the bottom left corner & choose power options. In the left pane, u can change what the power buttons do, i.e. remove requiring a password on wakeup. From power option > power plan > change plan settings where u can find advanced power settings. On advance setting pane tab, under require a password on wake up, u can change as ur wish.

I did several things to get rid of that annoying message.  First, I right clicked on the desktop to get the pull down menu, and then left clicked on personalize.  I then left clicked on personalize in the lower right hand corner where it says screen saver.  Two things that I to change inside the screen saver message was take the check mark out of on resume display logon screen, and in the power settings I set sleep to never.  While some people successfully get sleep to work, I never have and I have to totally shut down a machine because it does not wake up properly from sleep.
