Has anyone have this issue on the iSeries for Windows? after an hour of no use it seems to lock up one of my sessions. I have seven at once running on V5r8
Try booting into Safe Mode (press F8 ) & see if u get the same problem. If not, then it is likely a software related problem.
Here use "msconfig" to disable all startup programs and turn them on one by one until the problem returns. Also check power setting to see if this could be related to an attempt to go into sleep mode....
U can check memory using the built-in memory tester with Windows 7 by Start > memory diagnostics
Also see the Event Viewer !

If it’s Client Access you may need to install the newest service pack on your PC. If you’re using Mochasoft, Attachmate, Reflections, etc… You will need to confirm if the version you’re running is Windows 7 compatible.
This can get a little confusing — there is no iSeries for Windows V5R8.
Inside of the iSeries Access for Windows product, IBM includes a part of a different product — the PComm Workstation Program. When you look at Help-> About for the emulator, you see the version of PComm that IBM used as the source for the emulator program. The version/release of PComm has little connection to the version/release of iSeries Access.
To see the iSeries Access version/release, go to the Start menu and follow Programs-> IBM iSeries Access for Windows-> iSeries Access for Windows Properties.
The Properties window shows both the iSeries Access version/release as well as the Service level. That’s the VRM that is usually needed, and the Service level is almost always tied to a particular set of problems.
Look at WoodEngineers link and especially the informational apar II14522, which states that “There are no plans to support the V5R4 IBM i Access for Windows client on Windows7″. In other words: there are several restrictions you should be aware of.
We’ve found that you have to upgrade to Client Access V6 to be able to run without errors on Windows 7. That’s not i5OS V6.1, but Client Access V6. It will work just fine in V5R3 and V5R4 environments
Does not happen on any of the XP machines
Only since I have put it on a Win7
Please confirm what emulator you’re using.

This site may help you. It contains info about using iSeries Access on Win 7.
Let’s try this again. Here is the link:

I get the V5R8 reference…
Client access on a V5R4 server would be 5.8. (I have it running on one system today)
You still need to look at downloading the newest client access service pack from IBM.

Good luck

Any reason you can’t upgrade at least on PC to V6 ? I found several errors it corrected, and it does work with Win 7.
