I can understand how frustrating this is, but if you can give us a bit more information we can make a better recommendation how to start to recover the information.

What steps have you taken to try to correct the situation?
What amount of data do you think is on the disk?
When was the last time you could access the data?
Has anyone recently changed the partition size?
More importantly, have you done any saves or deletions?
Have you ran checkdisk on the drive? If so what error information did it give?
Does the drive click a lot when reading it?
Does the drive feel hot when it is running?

Answers to all these questions will point us in the general direction of the fault.

Data recovery tools are handy and useful, but basic maintenance details might be better. I just recovered a disk a week ago on a PC by cleaning all of the dust out of the fan vents and out of the fans themselves. It was a simple issue of heating.

First make sure that the basics are covered. Then look to recovery tools.

There's no reason to think that general maintenance will actually help. It's just a trivial thing to do to help your system keep on working.
