both machines are on the internet I'm writing this from the server and I just went to the client machine and flew across the bearing sea in google earth, so I am sure that they both are... why then is a ping from the dos prompt timing out instead of returning packets?.. wierd

I went into active directory Users and computers and I could see the domain
selecting the computer folder I added all of the compouters names to it with the add , new, computer action

I also went into users and changed the administrators password so I would be sure i had the correct one (I used the same password that the administrator for the server is)

Going to the client machine I attempted again to change the name to the domain, again got a log in screen logged in as administrator and again was told the path was not found.

To point to the dns I went into tcp/ip properties and selected obtain the ip manually then for the primary dns server I put the ip address of the server I left the secondary address empty and the subnet mask was the default 244.244.0.0
when I then attempted to log in using the features under computer properties I actually had a log in screen come up.. I put the administrators log in and password and it took awhile then returned the error
