 Windows 2000 does not boot!
I was trying to dock my Dell laptop and mistakenly installed
the NT docking drivers instead of win 2000 and now the
system won't boot. It just shows a blue rectangle in the
center of the screen. I have tried safe mode but it does
not work. I have tried recovery console and fixboot
option but it still does not work.

Any ideas???

Answer Wiki:
If all else fails, you can do an "in-place" upgrade with the Windows 2000 CD. That will preserve your current applications and settings and you can install the service packs and patches again if needed after the install.

Funny, I did the same thing once and since I was short on time I ended up doing exactly as Ahixon suggested in his reply, a win2000 upgrade to preserve all settings. After you get the right drivers in place it should work smoothly.
