You can do remote administration by activating Terminal Services on a windows 2000 server

Details here:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/300847/en-us

And accessing it with XP by executing mstsc.exe (or Remote Desktop Connection)

Update 6.0 for XP SP2

From there it is as if you were in front of your server....and you can manage any software install on it.

You have two options. Go with the terminal services feature on Windows 2000 or install a remote control program like VNC http://www.realvnc.com/products/free/3.3.7/winvnc.html and then you can connect that way as well.
