Win XP deny “Delete” Permissions but allow Save
Win XP Deny "Delete" Permission winthout deny the save I tried to deny the users the permission to "delete" files but I'd like to allow them to save...When I remove the "delete" permission (or the "delete subfolders and files" permission) they can't delete as I wish but they also cannot save...Any ideas?

Answer Wiki:
The solution is to not deny deletes but to not allow deletes. Give Modify, Execute, List, Read and Write permissions but do not give delete permission. You need to go into the Advanced properties and edit the full permission list to set it up. The problem is that in Windows, deny permissions override allow permissions.

The only thing I can think of is that the program ‘deletes’ the old file prior to saving, hence requiring permission to delete. Have you given them write data/append data permissions? Maybe you have to set the delete setting on the folder and leave it unset on the file. Just guessing, however.
