I have 33 users now using roaming profiles. Recently I added 2 new users by copying an existing user in the Active Director and changing the user name once pasted into AD. The problem is neither of these two new users can logon with a roaming profile. They both get the error message "unable to locate Roaming Profile loging on with local profile. When comparing the properties of either of these two users and an already existing user that is working with no problems, they are exactly the same with the exception of the user name. Why are these two unable to logon with a romaming profile? In the properties of the user under the profile tab, the path is correct. Can anybody help? I am at wits end with this problem. If anybody needs more specific info please let me know.

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

A – unless you have setup and tested a default profile then copying an existing profile and renaming it always causes problems. This is because while you see user xxx or name yyy, the domain sees SID & GUID & AD UID.
B – You state that when comparing an existing working profile and your two ‘new’ users they are the same (except for the name). They shouldn’t be. At a minimum the path to profile on the server must be different. A roaming profile only works if it is owned by the user trying to use it or the network administrator. I am willing to bet that if you check security – ownership of the new profiles it will still be the old user.
C – In fact I se that you did check the path and it is different for each user, then it has to be permissions – ownership of the profile.
Hope this helps
