Win 2008 Server DC in a Win 2003 Domain

Windows 2003 domain, Active Directory, Exchange 2003, Windows Server 2003, Domain controller, Windows Server 2008

I have a domain win 4 branch office. All DC's are W2K3 and I'm running Exchange 2003. All member servers are W2K3. I need to replace a branch office DC (W2K3). I have no plans to replace any other DC's at this time. Question: is it safe to replace the branch office DC with a 2008 Server without making any other changes/upgrades to the domain. Server will be running AD, DNS, DHCP, WINS.

Technically this should work with a few tweaks but I have not tried it nor would I recommend just doing it in a live environment. Can you do it in a lab first?

To have the 2008 machine be a DC, you have to upgrade the schema before, otherwise just
add it as a member server. See this page for more information.
