Will Cisco certifications help me to grow in my job
I have completed my Bachelors Degree in Electronics and Telecom. I am working as an O & M  and IREG(International Roaming Expert Group)Engineer in GSM company for two and half years. Normally, I monitor and troubleshoot NSS and Roaming related problems. I want to build up my career by Cisco Certifications. Will Cisco certifications help me to grow in my job? If yes, then which feild in Cisco certifications will help me more. If not, please suggest me is there is any Certified training programs that can give me Telecom related Protocols certifications. Kindly help me out with this problem, because I am doing the same job for two years and I want to increase my technical knowledge. Thanks

Definitely Cisco Certifications will help you to grow in your career, since you are into GSM, Cisco Voice certifications will add value to your resume. These days people are migrating form traditional telephony to IP telephony. With a telecom background you can shape a great career. Just don’t rely on certifications to get you where you want/need to be. There’s much, much more to the equation as I talk about here and here as well as in this recent rant:

Be wary of the “certified” IT pro

Best of luck!!

I definitely agree with Yasirirfan that you can’t hurt yourself with more Cisco Certifications or any certifications for that matter. All you are going to do is expand your knowledge base and grow as a reliable and knowledgeable technician. Look at the CCNA Voice as he said and pursue that certification. I have known many people with CCNA Voice who have gone on to have great and rewarding careers in the telecom industry.
