Why will my PC (Windows 7) not play my DC’s anymore?

I've played every CD I own on my PC at one time or another - but it's been awhile. Now it won't play any of them! Calls them all CDFS files. Tried copying the contents onto the hard drive and then pasted back on to the disc where they became CDA files and my PC will STILL not play them. What's the deal? It read them once (I already have all of these in my library, and I've burned back ups from them - which played - but now I can't do that! I really needed this for music for a friend's memorial service. I can't even DL from the web and have what's burned play after burning. HELP!!!! Please. Software incompatibility?

Software/Hardware used:
UM, Windows media player, itunesI just know how to use a computer, tell me what to look for
