During IPL the startup job issues this command: ENDTCPSVR SERVER(*HTTP) HTTPSVR(*ADMIN). The comment says this is for security purposes. Is anyone else ending HTTP *ADMIN server at IPL. Is this security over kill?

Hi,

I wouldn’t say it’s overkill – this will stop web access to some of the admin functions of your iSeries. From the admin web page users can do all sorts of things that you don’t want happening to a production machine.

Try starting the *ADMIN HTTP Server and take a look for yourself – point your browser to http://yourservername_or_ipaddress:2001

Martin Gilbert.
