Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Most of my *OUTQs don’t have IP addresses. The addresses are in the *DEVDs since I try to limit use of remote *OUTQs. iSeries Access printer sessions also probably won’t have IP addresses — even though connected via TCP/IP (and especially if not).

It’s almost guaranteed that the value in your *OUTQ is not *SAME. More likely, you don’t have the authority to change it. Many commands will display “*SAME” when you execute a ‘Change’ command without the authority to change all of the attributes. Attributes that are restricted (to you) are replaced with “*SAME” because ‘the same’ value that currently is set will be the value that remains after you execute the command.

Typically, when you prompt such a command, you will see “Current values could not be retrieved.” on the message line.

Could it be that it is not an IP printer outq? This was the 'old' way before networking. Crtoutq and crtwtr instead of crtoutq and assign an ip address to it. The writer has to be started for printing. Does this help? See a freeware for the AS/400 called WRKRMTWTR. Nick

I never use IP adresses (at least I try toavoid it as much as possible) in either remote OUTQ's or Printer device descriptions. I use the host table (CFGTCP option 10) to register IP adresses and Host names. The names are then used in the Configuration Descriptions. This way when IP adresses get changed I only need to Rename it in the host table.
