Q:
Why can't I install a USB printer on a 32-bit Vista machine?
Hello,

I have a computer operating OEM Windows Vista 32-bit system. I can not install a USB printer. I called Epson (the company I bought the printer from) and they told me to call Microsoft and ask for USB printer support. Microsoft will not help without charging a fee, same with the company I bought my computer from, even though I was told it was a common problem.

When I click on printer properties and ports no USB port show up. I have tried installing many different ways and many differnet times? Is there away yo solve this issue?

I work tech support for canon and I run across this you go to run type MSCONFIG this will bring you to the system configuration box choose selective start up and take the check off load system service then go to the services tab go to the bottom select hide all MS services restart your computer run you installation CD after driver installation go back to system configuration and put the check back on load system service and restart your computer.
